Between 2 and 3 years old, toddlers become increasingly aware that they are separate individuals from their parents. This time marks a significant change in how children grow and interact with the world. We encourage active toddlers to explore their world through touch, taste, smell, sight, and movement.

Preschool Program
(2 – 3 years)
The preschool program is specifically designed for 2 – 3 years old children and provides them with the space, supervision, and support to learn and grow. The program provides:
- Separate classrooms and outdoor playtime from older preschoolers
- Supportive potty training as needed (diapers OK)
Joyful Learning
St. Clare’s prepares children for Kindergarten by helping them develop social and emotional skills, confidence, and independence such as taking turns, transitioning from one activity to another, playing with friends, and developing language.
Play with Purpose
Opportunities are provided daily to develop large and fine motor skills, music awareness and artistic expression, and math and science activities in a developmentally appropriate atmosphere.
Build a Compassionate Heart
Our program includes a spiritual element. We welcome children of all faiths and talk to them about God loving us all and about praying for those we love. We tell some simple Bible stories, sing a song, and do a dance.
Saying Goodbye
“Separations are sometimes difficult, especially at the start of preschool. Having a consistent routine is very important. Talk with your child before you arrive about what he or she will do and the teachers and children who will be at school…
Our single most important piece of advice is to say goodbye confidently and briefly, then leave. Don’t hesitate to contact the preschool later to check how your child is doing.”
